Samsung debuted One UI 6.1 with the Galaxy S24 series a few days ago. It brings several new AI, camera, customization, and productivity features. The new version of One UI also improves the integration of Galaxy smartphones and tablets with other Galaxy ecosystem products.
A new feature lets you use your Galaxy smartphone’s camera as a webcam for your Galaxy tablet.
Camera Sharing feature on One UI 6.1
The One UI 6.1 software brings a new feature called Camera Sharing. You can find it on your Galaxy S24 when you head over to Settings » Connected Devices. After enabling the Camera Sharing toggle, you can use your phone’s camera as a webcam for a nearby Galaxy tablet. For this feature to work, both devices (your Galaxy smartphone and Galaxy tablet) need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network and have Bluetooth and Camera Sharing features turned on. This feature allows you to use a better-quality camera, which is usually found on smartphones, as a webcam for your video calls. This is great for someone who conducts a lot of video calls or meetings. Better quality cameras found on smartphones can offer better dynamic range, higher details, and more accurate colors than the front-facing camera found on tablets. It isn’t clear how seamlessly this feature works, though, and we will reserve judgment until we test it thoroughly.
The Camera Sharing feature is different from the ability to use your Galaxy smartphone’s camera as a webcam for your PC or laptop running Windows OS. That feature comes through Link To Windows integration from Microsoft. Samsung also allows you to use your smartphone’s camera as a webcam for your Samsung smart TV.
