Trivikram Srinivas, known as 'Maatala Mantrikudu,' has directed a dozen movies, including the recent 'Guntur Kaaram.'
Only a couple of times has he disappointed, with ‘Agnyaathavaasi’ in the past and now ‘Guntur Kaaram.’ Though not on the same level as ‘Agnyaathavaasi,’ this film will always be remembered as a poor work from the director.
As we have mentioned before, one thing Trivikram needs to immediately stop is playing in the family template. Trends have changed, and he needs to understand that.
The moment a Trivikram film is announced, excitement levels drop because everyone knows what to expect – a family drama with a few good dialogues. If the music and other departments come together, there is a winner.
If we observe any other director rising in current times, they are setting up ambitious projects with big scale and elements that instantly excite the audience.
It’s high time Trivikram comes out of the family template and shows some variety. Otherwise, even if he delivers a decent watch next time, there won’t be much gain for him personally in the current highly competitive race.
Also, when new directors like Prasanth Varma and others are targeting the pan-India market, operating within the predictable family template will label him as a local director.
