The old Maruti Suzuki Gypsy has been widely used to explore wildlife across India. However, these models are now old and are ready to be replaced by new Jimny. Last Year, NTCA and MoEF&CC had announced that the old Safari vehicles will be replaced by the new Maruti Jimny Safari versions, and here are the first images of the new Maruti Jimny Safari version.
Maruti Jimny Safari Version Without Roof
The old Gypsy was also modified to suit the needs of rough and tough terrains, and to provide open view of wilderness to tourists and wildlife photographers. Force Motors is also offering the Trax Cruiser Safari. NTCA (National Tiger Conservation Authority) and MoEF&CC (Ministry of Environment Forest & Climate Change) had asked all wildlife sanctuaries & national parks to remove all the departmental vehicles and old safari vehicles and opt for new emission standard compliant vehicles.
Currently, the Maruti Suzuki Gypsy is widely used by most of the wildlife parks across states. NTCA is in talks with Maruti Suzuki to procure Jimny SUV for the task. In fact, the organisation has asked all the states to provide their modification requirements. Facebook user Harvijay Singh Bahia has posted images of the Maruti Jimny Safari version. He is testing the new Jimny Safari and has mentioned that the new version is more comfortable than the Safari tracks.
However, He said that the windscreen is fixed and cannot be drop down for photography. MSIL has removed the roof to give it a Safari vehicle look. There are two roll bars placed to provide occupant head protection. It is based on the Zeta variant and features steel wheels.
The Maruti Jimny Safari version comes equipped with a bull bar that extends across front wheel arches and extends to rear wheel arches. Maruti Suzuki has also added third row bench type seat.
The other version of the Jimny Safari could receive a foldable windscreen to capture wilderness. The SUV could also get a soft top version and differently-styled seats. It is powered by the same 1.5-litre K15B naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 103PS and 134Nm of torque.
