Sajjan Singh Riar has fought in the wars of 1962, 65 and 1971. He was recruited in 1960 and fought his first war just two years later in 1962 against China. Three years later, in the 1965 war with Pakistan, he performed brilliantly and defeated the enemies. After India's victory in this war, he was also given land by the government. Six years later, in 1971, he again fought with Pakistan and got independence for Bangladesh.

Rebel attack failed in Operation Blue Star

Lakshminarayan Yadav, who was an electronic and mechanical engineer in the army, said that he had participated in Operation Blue Star in the year 1984. His job was to inspect weapons before an encounter. During this period, some soldiers also became rebels. They were going from Chandigarh to attack the army under the influence of alcohol. We had a base in the middle and stayed there. I became suspicious because of his expression. They were about 25 youth. During the inspection of their weapons, the firing pin was removed from the guns, due to which when they went to attack further, their guns became useless. Lakshminarayan's son Major Santosh Yadav is also serving the country in the army.

Spent 18 months in Sri Lanka

Manohar Lal Yadav told that he was in Jaffna for about 18 months in the Indian Peace Keeping Force during the civil war in Sri Lanka. Once the company was on patrol, the LTT men started the attack. 15 of our people were sacrificed in that. Fellow hero Rajendra Prasad and I started attacking using the dead bodies of our comrades as a shield. Rajendra stood up and attacked continuously with LMG. During this time he also got hit by several bullets, but we killed all of them and saved our lives. Due to the bullets, Rajendra's physical condition deteriorated and later he also became mentally ill.

The entire family served in the army

Former Subedar Shriram Ahir told that he participated in the wars of 1965 and 1971. His job was to deliver artillery. After him, his four sons Suresh, Sunil, Vijay and Ajay are serving in the army. Two of these sons are now retired. Nephew Prithviraj retired from the army as Ordinary Captain. Nephew Kailash is also serving in the army.
