Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as Chief Minister of Bihar for a seventh time tomorrow with support from the BJP, his on-again-off-again ally, sources told NDTV, as the churn in the state’s political landscape spins to a conclusion.

The BJP will get two Deputy Chief Minister berths for backing Mr Kumar – the same deal it got after the 2020 election.

No Sign Of Nitish Kumar Joining BJP-Led NDA, Says Akhilesh Yadav

There is “no sign” of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, a key figure in the Opposition alliance returning to the NDA, Akhilesh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party chief and a partner of the INDIA bloc, said, reported ANI.

Speaking to reporters, Mr Yadav expressed his hope that Nitish Kumar will strengthen the INDIA bloc, formed to take on the BJP-led central government in the upcoming general elections.

“There is no such sign. We hope that Nitish Kumar will not go to NDA. He will strengthen the INDIA alliance,” Mr Yadav said.

BJP leader Murari Mohan Jha on Friday said that the development of the state will take the pace if the JD(U) chief join hands with his former ally. Taking a swipe at the ruling grand alliance of the state, Mr Jha questioned the law and order situation in Bihar, reported news agency ANI.

“Definitely, this will lead to the development of Bihar. Whenever the NDA government came to power in the state, development was seen. During the present government of the alliance (RJD-JDU), there is no district which has been left behind in crime…” he said.

Amid the uncertainty in the political corridors of Bihar over the possible alliance of Janata Dal-United (JDU) and the BJP, as speculations are on the rise that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar could cross over to the NDA again, RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari said on Friday that it ‘surprises’ him how one’s conscience allows one to go back to the place where one was reportedly ‘insulted’, reported news agency ANI.

“We have seen what kind of language was used by the Bihar BJP chief for Nitish Kumar in the past. It surprises me how one’s conscience allows one to go back there,” Mr Tiwari said.

“Nothing is clear as yet. Let us wait for the details on why he (Nitish Kumar) went to the Raj Bhavan,” the RJD veteran added. “I have sought time from the Chief Minister for today. He even said that he would call me,” he said.
