The Sankranthi Hungama in the Telugu film industry this year left mixed results, with only “Hanu Man” achieving blockbuster status. As attention shifts to the upcoming summer season, anticipation builds for films featuring top stars.
But NTR’s Devara got postponed recently from its original April 5 date. Prabhas’ Kalki 2989 AD may or may not be released as scheduled for May 9. This scenario suggests that the spotlight might be shifted to young heroes to offer engaging films to entertainment-hungry Telugu audiences.
Noteworthy among these are Sidhu Jonnalagadda’s “Tillu Square” and Vijay Deverakonda’s “Family Star,” both confirmed for March 29 and April 5, respectively. The industry buzz suggests fireworks at the box office for these much-anticipated films.
After a couple of setbacks, Ram is gearing up for a strong comeback with “Double Smart,” directed by Puri Jagannath. The film was initially set for release on March 8, 2024. However, due to disruptions in the OTT and Hindi dubbing market, the team is now eyeing a release on the iconic Pokiri date, April 28, or possibly in May.
Sriram Adittya collaborates with Sharwanand for a film set abroad, targeting a summer release. Tentatively titled “Maname,” the movie is produced by TG Vishwa Prasad under the banner of People Media Factory, featuring Krithi Shetty as the female lead with Hesham Abdul Wahab composing the music.
Vishwak Sen’s “Gangs of Godavari” promises an action-packed drama with a period touch, slated for release on March 8. Sree Vishnu, riding high on the success of “Samajavaragamana,” is preparing for the summer release of the sequel, “Raja Raja Chora.”
The summer lineup also includes Sudheer Babu’s ‘Harom Hara,’ Malli Ankam-directed film starring Allari Naresh, and Nara Rohit’s return with ‘Pratinidhi 2,’ all set to grace theaters with their presence.
