Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar has made a name for herself by choosing unconventional films. Recently, the actress spoke up about a disturbing incident from her past.
During an interview, Bhumi opened up about being groped at the young age of 14. She recounted that she was attending a crowded local fair in Mumbai’s Bandra area with her family. As she walked through the busy stalls and pavilions, she suddenly felt someone pinch her a*s.
Shocked, Bhumi turned around quickly but was unable to identify the perpetrator in the teeming crowd. The uncomfortable touching persisted, leaving the teenage girl feeling violated and paranoid even though she was surrounded by family. However, at that moment, she did not speak up or tell anyone about what had happened.
Now an empowered voice against sexual harassment, Bhumi reflected that no young girl should have to go through such an experience. She hoped her story would encourage others to come forward and know they are not alone.
On the work front, Bhumi was last seen in a leading role in the comedy film Thank You For Coming. She is gearing up for the release of her next film, the thriller Bhakshak, based on women’s child trafficking where she plays an investigative journalist. This Netflix film is produced by Shah Rukh Khan and is slated for release on February 9.
