Qualcomm could launch a more powerful version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip

According to a new post from Digital Chat Station, Qualcomm is working on a new chipset with model number SM8635. The tipster claims that the features of the SoC include a Cortex-X4 CPU core clocked at 2.9GHz and an Adreno 735 GPU. Furthermore, Digital Chat Station claims that Qualcomm will get this chipset manufactured by TSMC on the company’s 4nm fabrication process, and the SoC scores 1.7 million points on AnTuTu.

Going by the model number, specifications, and AnTuTu score, SM8635 looks like a more advanced version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and a less advanced version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. As such, Qualcomm could place the SM8635 between those two chipsets. If so, Qualcomm could call it the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2+. It also means that the upcoming SoC will be more affordable than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and therefore, phone manufacturers could use it in affordable flagship-grade devices.

According to Roland Quandt, another chipset that Qualcomm is developing, which has model number SM7675 and is expected to debut as Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, also has the same specifications as the SM8635. So, Qualcomm may be planning to launch the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2+ to make it sound more lucrative to customers (manufacturers and end customers). Many phones are rumored to feature the SM8635 chipset, including POCO F6, Redmi Note 13 Turbo, and iQOO Neo-series device.
