“Yatra 2” is a movie directed by Mahi V Raghava with hero Jeeva and senior Malayalam hero Mammootty in key roles. The film was released today. And let's go to the review and find out how much the audience liked this movie!
Story:
The story begins with YS Rajasekhar Reddy (Mammootty) introducing his son Jagan (Jiva) to the public as the Kadapa MP in the 2009 elections. After that.. they will show YSR winning the election and becoming the CM. However, after the death of YS Rajasekhar Reddy, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to stop the 'Paramarsha Yatra' and Jagan formed a separate party and won the by-elections. Amid some dramatic developments in this order, CBI raids on Jagan will take place. Jagan will be arrested. Incidents like Chandrababu (Mahesh Manjrekar) becoming the CM in the elections that followed, Jagan losing the election and becoming the leader of the opposition for the first time. Finally, how did Jagan do the Padayatra?, how did Jagan become the CM in 2019? That is the rest of the story.
Plus Points:
In Yatra 2, which came as a semi-biopic of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, after YSR's death, how did Jagan realize his goal of walking in his father's footsteps? How did he reach the target? Such things are very impressive in the movie. Mahi V Raghava's direction is also good.
Hero Jeeva acted very well as YS Jaganmohan Reddy. Legendary actor Mammootty will also be seen in 'Yatra 2'. He also acted brilliantly. Similarly, German actress Suzanne Bernert also acted very well in the role of Sonia in this movie. Mahesh Manjrekar also acted well in the role of Chandrababu.
Similarly, the rest of the lead actors also impressed with their performance in Aya's roles. All the actors were especially impressive by imitating their respective original characters. Overall, the scenes written by the director and the elevations of emotions and characters are interesting and impressive at some places.
Minus Points:
Although the realistic storyline taken by director Mahi V Raghava is good, the story is simple and slow at some places. Especially some sequences in the first half as well as the starting sequences of the second half were not interesting. Some of the political scenes between Jagan and the leaders of the opposing party also seem to be very regular.
On the whole, even if the director has elevated the content he wanted on the screen, it would have been a plus for the movie if some routine political scenes had been trimmed. Also, care should be taken in the matter of screenplay, even if we tried to increase the emotions in the interval… to increase some interest in the second half… it did not work out so effectively. And the climax also went as expected by everyone.
Technical Department:
Talking about technicians.. Mahi V Raghava as a director impressed with a good storyline. Also, his taking is also very good. But, he hesitated in writing the screenplay. The songs given by the music director are good. Similarly the background score is also good in some key scenes. If the editor had trimmed the unnecessary scenes tightly, it would have been a plus for the movie. Cinematography is also good. The production values followed by producer Shiva Meka are very good.
Verdict:
Coming as a political emotional drama, 'Yatra 2' is an emotional feast for Jagan's fans and YS Rajasekhar Reddy's fans. Along with Jagan's political graph, the emotions and bonding between YSR and Jagan are also impressive. Also, BGM and some dialogues are good. However, some sequences in this movie are moving slowly and some political scenes which are routine are minuses for the movie. If not, Mammootty and Jeeva took the movie to another level with their performance. Overall this movie 'Yatra 2' will please YCP fans very well.
