Social media’s surge has turned the online landscape into a jungle of scams, and even top-most stars like Mahesh Babu and his family aren’t immune.
Recently, scammers set their sights on Sitara Ghattamaneni, the star’s daughter, pulling off a sneaky scheme on Instagram. Posing as Sitara, they lured in unsuspecting users with bogus trading and investment opportunities, turning the platform into their personal playground.
But Mahesh Babu didn’t let these fraudsters run amok. In response, Mahesh’s team and the Madhapur police quickly warned everyone on Twitter to be careful and avoid clicking on suspicious links.
The official Twitter/X account of Mahesh Babu’s team, in conjunction with the Madhapur police, posted a cautionary message: “In a joint effort with Team GMB, Madhapur police issued a stern warning regarding a cybercrime incident involving the impersonation of Ms. Sitara Ghattamaneni on Instagram. An anonymous individual has deceitfully portrayed Ms. Ghattamaneni, disseminating trading and investment links to unsuspecting users.
Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. Extensive measures are underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrator, thwarting future attempts.
The public is advised to verify the authenticity of celebrity accounts before engaging with financial solicitations online.”
