Kollywood director Aishwarya Rajinikanth's new film Lal Salaam has released in theaters today. Her father, Superstar Rajinikanth in a special role, Vishnu Vishal and Vikrant in lead roles. Let's go into the review and see how this movie fares.

Story:

Guru (Vishnu Vishal) and Samshuddin (Vikrant) were once close friends in a village called Kasumuru. A tragic event drives them apart and turns them into bitter rivals. Mumbai-based textile merchant Moideen Bhai (Rajinikanth) has connections with the guru and the village. The film goes smoothly until the villagers of Kasumuru face insults from another village. After that, events take a sudden turn. As the situation escalates, Moideen Bhai's involvement, can the youth solve the problem? Or? Answers to such questions are in the movie

Plus Points:

Vishnu Vishal's character is impressive. He gave a good performance. The village atmosphere and some other scenes are beautifully rendered.

Vikrant's performance is good. Rajinikanth impresses with his mannerisms and good dialogues in the role of Vikrant's father.

Jeetha Rajasekhar impressed with her performance. Other actors were impressive with the range of their roles.

Minus Points:

The plot and its slow screenplay are the film's biggest problems. Aishwarya Rajinikanth's intended message to the audience is not very impressive. Also, the story he wants to tell is seen in many old movies. As a director and a screenwriter, she could have told scriptwriter Vishnu Rangasamy to imbue it with more emotions and be more effective. But that didn't happen.

Emotion scenes in the movie are not very effective. Their impact is further reduced by the absence of a brilliant background score.

Due to the dubbing selection, other actors are unknown to the Telugu audience, another reason why the average viewer will not be able to connect with the film.

Aishwarya Rajinikanth's direction would have elevated some scenes. The inclusion of heroine Anantika, Kapil Dev and Nirosha adds little value to the story.

Technical Department:

Aishwarya Rajinikanth's dual role as screenplay writer and director failed to deliver a good experience. The slow paced film with short story line will test the audience's patience especially in the second half.

While Praveen Baskar's editing and Vishnu Rangasamy's cinematography are satisfactory, AR Rahman's score doesn't seem as effective as he. Moreover, the runtime of the movie also showed an effect on the result of the movie.

Verdict:

Overall Lal Salaam movie is good with good actors but not very impressive with routine screenplay and dull story. The film lacks proper writing and the background score does not elevate the scenes so it feels boring. It must be said that the presence of Superstar Rajinikanth did not help the film. Better skip this movie this weekend.
