Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s film “Lal Salaam” had a simultaneous release in Tamil and Telugu. However, while the box office collections in Tamil Nadu are disappointing, the situation is even worse in the Telugu-speaking states.
In many places across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the first show of the film was canceled due to insufficient audience turnout, despite featuring Rajinikanth in a cameo role, following a blockbuster like “Jailer.”
Poor promotion played a significant role, as many people in the Telugu states weren’t even aware of the film’s release. Additionally, negative word of mouth has further diminished its box office prospects. The film experienced disastrous openings and faced theater deficits right from the first day.
In contrast, despite mixed word of mouth, Ravi Teja’s film Eagle is expected to dominate the weekend box office in Telugu states. “Lal Salaam” is unlikely to attract many viewers this weekend and emerge as a colossal flop.
First-day collections in Tamil Nadu are estimated to be around 3-4 crores gross, while in Telugu states, it’s expected to be less than a crore. The situation isn’t much different in the US.
