In a recent incident in the UK, a 24-year-old man of Indian origin named Sahil Sharma has been accused of fatally stabbing his 19-year-old wife in South London last October.
Sharma, a resident of Croydon, admitted to the crime during his appearance at Kingston Crown Court. He had called emergency services on October 29, 2023, confessing to the murder at their home on Ash Tree Way.
Upon arrival, authorities found the victim, Mehak Sharma from Gurdaspur, Punjab, with severe knife wounds to her neck.
Despite efforts to save her, Mehak was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as a stab wound to her neck.
Metropolitan Police expressed sympathy for Mehak’s family and condemned Sahil’s actions, stating that he had robbed them of a beloved daughter.
Mehak’s body was repatriated to her village in Punjab for funeral rites.
Reports suggest Mehak’s mother accused Sahil of harassing and abusing her daughter.
Sahil Sharma is scheduled for sentencing on April 26.
