The updated Mahindra XUV400 marked the indigenous automaker’s first product launch in 2024. Currently, Mahindra is set to introduce the XUV300 facelift, followed by the XUV300 EV and the 5-door Thar. The 2024 Mahindra XUV300 facelift is slated for imminent release, while the electric XUV300 is scheduled for a June launch. Although the official launch timeline for the 5-door Mahindra Thar is yet to be disclosed, its debut is anticipated on August 15th, with market availability expected a few months thereafter. Let’s delve into the key details of these three upcoming Mahindra SUVs.
Upcoming Mahindra SUVs
Mahindra XUV300 Facelift
The XUV300 is set to undergo significant design alterations with this mid-life update, drawing inspiration from the forthcoming Mahindra BE electric SUVs. Expect a redesigned two-part grille, an enlarged central air intake, revised bumper, updated headlamp assembly with redesigned LED DRLs, a more angular nose, new alloys, and a revamped tailgate featuring a full-width LED light bar. Inside, the 2024 Mahindra XUV300 facelift is anticipated to have a new dashboard hosting dual 10.25-inch screens (one for infotainment and one for instrumentation), cooled seats, a 360-degree camera, and rear AC vents. While retaining the existing 1.2L turbo petrol, 1.2L TGDi petrol, and 1.5L diesel engines, a new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox will be introduced for the turbo-petrol motor.
Mahindra XUV300 EV
Based on its updated ICE counterpart, the Mahindra XUV300 EV will incorporate EV-specific elements inside and out. It will feature a new front grille, revised headlamps with new drop-down LED DRLs, a tweaked front bumper, C-shaped taillamps, and a redesigned tailgate with a full-width LED light bar. The dashboard will receive slight modifications, including a larger infotainment system and repositioned AC vents. The powertrain is expected to comprise a 35kWh battery pack, positioning this electric SUV below the XUV400 with an estimated price range of Rs 15 lakh – Rs 17 lakh.
5-Door Mahindra Thar
Dubbed the “Thar Armada,” the 5-door Mahindra Thar is anticipated to sport a distinct front grille and bumper design compared to its 3-door counterpart. Higher trims will feature an all-LED lighting system and 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Inside, expect a redesigned dashboard with integrated dual screens (10.25-inch each), leatherette seat upholstery, front and rear center armrests, a sunroof, push-button start, rear AC vents, six airbags, dashcam, and front parking sensors. Powering the 5-door Mahindra Thar will be the same 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines found in the Scorpio N, with both 2WD and 4WD configurations available.
