The all-electric BYD Seal sedan is set to hit showrooms on March 5, 2024. Following the introduction of the BYD e6 MPV and the Act 3 SUVit will mark the third electric offering from the Chinese EV market in India. Bookings for the vehicle have already commenced at dealership levels. The new BYD electric sedan will compete against cars such as the Kia EV6 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5, priced between Rs 60.95 lakh and Rs 65.95 lakh and Rs 45.95 lakh, respectively. While the Seal’s pricing will be disclosed in the coming weeks, it is anticipated to fall within the range of Rs 50 lakh to Rs 55 lakh.
The powertrain setup of the BYD Seal incorporates the brand’s new Blade battery technology. It is available with two battery packs: a 61.4kWh and an 82.5kWh. While the former will feature both single and dual motor setups, the latter will exclusively offer the dual motor layout.
Variants equipped with the 61.4kWh battery promise a range of 550km and support charging rates of up to 110kW. Meanwhile, those with the larger 82.5kWh battery pack will deliver a range of up to 700km and support charging rates of up to 150kW. In India, the Seal may be offered with the dual motor setup and an AWD system. It boasts an impressive acceleration, reaching 0 to 100kmph in just 3.8 seconds, surpassing the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6 in speed.
The BYD Seal is packed with an array of features, including a rotating 15.6-inch infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a HUD (head-up display), a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker Dynaudio audio system, two wireless charging pads, quilted vegan leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, an 8-way adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, a 6-way electrically adjustable co-driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, and more.
