Will TFCC Bye-Laws Give An Extension For Dil Raju?

Dil Raju President Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce

Dil Raju was elected as the President of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce in July last year. He has completed about seven months of his tenure so far. And that leaves him only with five more months as the President.

Back then, Dil Raju and his panel’s victory in the TFCC is dubbed as the victory of the active producers in the Chamber which is being led by producers who do not make films any more. So, the industry is eagerly watching to see Dil Raju’s mark on the Chamber.

Meanwhile, the seven months term passed off very quickly and Dil Raju feels he needs more time to show his mark.

So, he has asked to see whether there is a chance in the By-laws for him to continue as the President for one year after this term.

According to the By-laws of TFCC, under 27(m)(4), the By-laws of TFCC says “The Office of the President shall be held by rotation by the Studio Member, the Producer Member, the Distributor Member and the Exhibitor Member, respectively. However, where members of the sector do not exercise their right to nominate their Member to the Presidentship in rotation, the Members of the next sector in rotation, shall be eligible to nominate their member to the Presidentship of the Chamber”.

Under 27 (p), the by-laws state, “Elections to the Film Chamber shall be held once in two years. However, the Sector-wise rotation of post of President shall be done on yearly basis”.

In 2023, Producer member got the chance as the President rotation-wise and Dil Raju became the President.

After the end of his tenure, the chance should go to the member from the distribution sector. Dil Raju’s Panel also has a majority in the distribution sector but then, the Chamber people are studying if there is a provision in the bye-laws for the same candidate to continue as President from both the sectors even if there is a majority.

A clarity on this may emerge in the next month.

It is prudent that an industry biggie like Dil Raju gets an extension so that he can leave a mark. One year term is too short to bring any reforms. But let us see what the bye-laws of the TFCC say.
