Up against world No 45 Pornpicha Choeikeewong, the Indian national champion produced a confident display to win in straight games and help India clinch the Badminton Asia Team Championships title for the first time (men or women).
The day started with two contrasting wins for India as PV Sindhu first brushed aside a tricky customer in Supanida Katethong. Then Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand produced an upset win over world No 10 pair of Jongkolphan Kititharakul-Rawinda Prajongjai in three games. After defeats in the next two matches, it came down to Anmol, who produced the winning effort.
