The sub-4 meter SUV segment is currently dominated by Tata Nexon and the Maruti Brezza. While the Nexon is available with multiple powertrain options, the Brezza is only available with a single petrol engine. The Hyundai Venue and the Kia Sonet are also doing good numbers for their respective brands. Mahindra XUV300 Facelift
The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra is all set to give a major update to its sub-4 meter SUV, the XUV300 in the country. The updated model will receive significant design changes and an all-new cabin with high-end features including the segment-first panoramic sunroof. The new model will share styling cues from the upcoming BE electric SUV range. It will have a bigger touchscreen infotainment unit and a new digital instrument console. The SUV will retain the existing engine options – a 1.5-litre diesel, a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.2-litre direct injection turbo petrol (TGDI). The most powerful 131bhp, 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine will also come with an Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Other transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and an AMT.
New Skoda Compact SUV
Skoda is readying an all-new sub-4 meter SUV, which will be launched in our market sometime in early 2025. The new small SUV will be based on the heavily modified MQB AO IN platform that underpins the Slavia, VW Taigun and the Virtus. The new SUV will be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with manual and torque convertor automatic gearbox. The SUV will share several components from the Slavia sedan.
Nissan Magnite Facelift
Nissan will launch the significantly revised Magnite sub-4 meter SUV in the country in 2024. The new model will receive design changes and a more feature-loaded cabin with a bigger touchscreen infotainment system and a new digital instrument console. The SUV will retain the existing engine options – 1.0-litre NA petrol and 1.0-litre turbo petrol.
New Renault Kiger
Renault has officially announced that it will launch the new-gen Kwid, Kiger and the Triber. The new Renault Kiger is expected to arrive sometime in 2025-26. It will receive significant design changes and an all-new interior with several high-end features. The new model will come equipped with a bigger touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless smartphone connectivity, a digital instrument console and others. It will be offered with the existing engine options including a 1.0L NA petrol and a 1.0L turbo petrol.
New Honda Compact SUV
Seeing the positive response for the new Elevate, Honda is planning to launch an all-new compact SUV in the Indian market. The new model could be the new-gen WR-V sub-4 meter SUV, which is on sale in Indonesia. It will rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon and others. The SUV will share the interior layout and features with the mid-sized SUV. The new compact SUV could be offered with multiple engine options including a 1.2L petrol and a 1.5L petrol.
