We’re all aware that the Maruti Suzuki Swift is gearing up for a generational shift in India. While the official launch date is yet to be announced, the all-new model of the hatch is expected to arrive in March or April 2024. Ahead of the launch of the third-generation Swift, select Maruti Suzuki dealers are offering attractive discounts and benefits on the current-generation Swift to clear the stock. In February 2024, buyers can avail themselves of a cash discount of up to Rs 15,000, an exchange bonus of up to Rs 20,000, and a corporate benefit of Rs 7,000. Recently, the carmaker increased the prices of select Swift variants by up to Rs 5,000.
The current-gen Maruti Swift comes with a 1.2L petrol engine that delivers 89bhp and 113Nm of torque. With the factory-fitted CNG kit, the setup delivers a claimed power of 76bhp and 98Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. The model lineup offers 11 variants, priced between Rs 5.99 lakh and Rs 9.03 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
Moving on to the new-gen Maruti Swiftthe hatchback will receive a major upgrade in the form of the new Z12 Series 1.2L petrol engine, which will be boosted with mild hybrid tech. The same motor powers the Japan-spec Swift, claiming to offer a maximum power of 82bhp and 108Nm of torque. The fuel efficiency figures of the mild hybrid and standard versions stand at 24.5kmpl and 23.4kmpl, respectively.
Compared to the current generation, the 2024 Maruti Swift will be 15mm longer, 40mm narrower, and 30mm taller, with no changes made to its wheelbase. Inside, the hatchback will share resemblance with the Baleno and Fronx. It will feature a new, floating 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, an entirely new dashboard with a dual-tone Black and Beige interior theme, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and many more enhancements.
