The Honda Elevate, the latest addition to the mid-size SUV segment from the Japanese automaker, is currently available with a cash discount of Rs 50,000. It’s worth noting that the benefit may vary depending on the variant, color, and city. This marks the first time the Elevate has been offered with a discount. With an average monthly sales of over 4,000 units, the SUV has contributed to the carmaker achieving a sales figure of 8,681 units in February 2024, representing a 10 percent increase compared to January.
The mid-size SUV lineup is priced between Rs 11.58 lakh and Rs 16.20 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). It is equipped with a 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine and offers two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed CVT automatic. The engine delivers a peak power of 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. Built on Honda’s Global Small Car platform, the Elevate measures 4312mm in length, 1790mm in width, and 1650mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2650mm and ground clearance of 220mm.
Honda has confirmed the development of an electric version of the Elevate under its new ‘ACE’ (Asian Compact Electric) project. Under this initiative, the company plans to produce 50-70 percent of EVs in India for export markets, including Japan. Production is set to commence by 2026, with the aim of introducing four more electric models by 2030. Honda will begin retooling its Tapukara facility in 2024.
The Elevate EV will compete with upcoming electric SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti Suzuki eVX, and Toyota Urban EV, all scheduled to launch in 2025. Honda’s electric SUV will be a global model exported to various markets. Details regarding design, features, and powertrain specifics of the Honda Elevate EV are currently undisclosed, although it’s expected to feature EV-specific design elements inside and out.
