Director Chidambaram S Poduval’s movie, “Manjummel Boys,” is going great guns at the box office. Breaking records left and right, it recently became the first Malayalam film in Tamil Nadu to earn over Rs 15 crore in just 11 days across 221 screens.
But it didn’t stop there—it quickly set a new record by becoming the fastest Malayalam film to reach Rs 100 crore globally.
On its 14th day, Wednesday, “Manjummel Boys” continued its strong streak, raking in an impressive Rs 3.75 crore in India alone. With a two-week total of Rs 111 crore worldwide, it now joins the ranks of other 100-crore Malayalam blockbusters like “Puli Murugan,” “Lucifer,” and “2018.”
What’s even more interesting is that before its release, no major streaming platforms were willing to buy the film even for a nominal price, as it wasn’t star-driven. However, post-release, all the top streaming platforms are now competing to buy it, with offers ten times higher than before.
It’s safe to say that “Manjummel Boys” has turned into a jackpot for its creators.
