It has been rumoured that Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan might contest from the Pithapuram constituency in Kakinada district in the upcoming general elections.
Meanwhile, JSP leaders now claim that the ruling YCP is playing evil tactics, including appointing favourable officials, to ensure Pawan’s defeat in Pithapuram.
The YCP government, through the Kakinada Collectorate, allegedly wrote a letter to the Election Commission requesting to appoint KUDA vice-chairman K. Subba Rao as the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and the district’s Joint Collector (JC) as the Returning Officer (RO) for Pithapuram.
Praveen Aditya, who worked as the ITDA PO of Rampachodavaram and the Polavaram Project Administrator in the past, has been named Joint Collector of Kakinada. He is now the RO for Pithapuram.
This appointment breaks the Election Commission’s rules for IAS transfers. In other constituencies, EROs are appointed as ROs. But in Pithapuram, different officials have been posted for both posts. JSP leaders objected to this move, alleging that Praveen Aditya’s appointment violates regulations.
They filed a complaint to Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena, asserting that appointing an officer to the same region where they previously served for four years, now in a different role, is against the rules. They termed this move as a dirty strategy by the YCP to defeat Pawan Kalyan in Pithapuram.
