Suzuki has recently introduced the new gen Swift hatchback for the Japanese market. The company has now revealed the fourth-generation model for the European markets. It comes with several design changes and an all-new interior along with a new powertrain option. The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift will also make its way to our market sometime in the next 2-3 months.
– The hatchback has retained the original silhouette; however, it has received several new design elements to offer fresh looks.
– It comes with a sharper front fascia, which accommodates a slightly smaller, aggressive-looking grille and an all-new LED headlamp setup. The hatchback gets a clamshell bonnet, sweptback headlamp and new bumper with sharp creases and cuts.
– The side profile also looks identical to the existing model; except for a few changes. The outgoing model has C-pillar mounted door handles, which are not offered in the new Swift. It comes with a more conventional door handle and a new set of alloy wheels.
– The rear profile looks identical to the existing model with some new design elements. It comes with a newly styled tailgate design with inverted C-shaped LED tail-lights, black bumper inserts and others.
– The new model is based on the heavily modified HEARTECT platform, which will also underpin the new-gen Dzire. The company claims to have used lightweight, high-strength ultra-high tensile steel plates over a wide range of areas.
– The new Swift measures 3,860mm in length, 1695mm in width and 1,500mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2450mm. It is 15mm longer than the current model; however, the width and height are reduced by 40mm and 30mm respectively.
– The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift comes with an all-new interior, which is heavily inspired from the Fronx crossover and the Baleno hatchback. It has an all-new dashboard layout with a new dual-tone black/beige interior scheme.
– It is fitted with a flat-bottom steering wheel, toggle switches for climate controls, and analogue dials. In terms of features, the hatchback gets analogue dials with MID, automatic AC, keyless entry, push-button start-stop, reverse parking camera, seat height & rear heater duct, remote storage door mirror, etc.
– The all-new 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift is equipped with a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, which we have already seen on the new Baleno, Fronx, Grand Vitara and the Brezza. This infotainment unit will be compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and voice assist.
– It also comes with 60:40 split rear seats, which makes it easier to carry more luggage in case of only 2 adults in the cabin. The hatchback offers a boot space of 265-litres.
– It is powered by a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z-Series petrol engine that produces 82bhp at 5700rpm and a peak torque of 108Nm at 4,500rpm. The mild-hybrid version has a DC synchronous motor, which offers an additional power and torque outputs of 3.1bhp and 60Nm, respectively.
– Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a new CVT automatic gearbox. The India-spec model is likely to get an AMT option. The hybrid version is claimed to offer a fuel economy of 24.5kmpl, while the regular model is rated at 23.4kmpl.
– Suzuki claims that the new Swift will receive 0-100kmph acceleration in 12.5 seconds, making it 5% faster than the outgoing model. The CVT version is even faster with 0-100kmph claimed in just 11.9 seconds.
