KCR’s Family Out Of Parliament

K. Chandrashekar Rao’s family has represented their party BRS on a national level since its inception. Since the inception of BRS, this will be the first time that no member from KCR’s family will be representing the party in Parliament.

After TRS (former name of BRS) was formed in 2001, KCR was elected to Lok Sabha in the 2004 general elections. He represented Karimnagar in that election. In 2009, KCR contested from Mahbubnagar and won the seat.

In 2014, KCR contested from Medak and won that seat as well. However, after becoming the Chief Minister of Telangana in that year, he resigned from that post. However, his daughter Kavitha represented the party in Lok Sabha from 2014-19 as the MP of Nizamabad.

In 2019, Kavitha lost the Nizamabad MP seat to Dharmapuri Aravind. On the other side, KCR didn’t contest for Lok Sabha. But his nephew Joginipally Santosh Reddy represented the party and their family as a Rajya Sabha MP.

Santosh’s tenure as a Rajya Sabha member ended on April 2. No one from KCR’s family is contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. No one is representing the family in Rajya Sabha as well.

Thus, for the first time in 20 years, KCR’s family will stay away from Parliament. As no one is contesting in the Lok Sabha elections, there will be no representation for the family in Parliament for the next five years.
