A recent bout of chickenpox added to the woes of the Class 9 student, said the police.
A 14-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur on Friday after he was recently diagnosed with diabetes. The police said the Class 9 student was suffering from chickenpox as well and was deeply concerned about his deteriorating health.
On Friday morning, the police received a call about his death, and they rushed to his house. Upon questioning, the family members told the police that the boy was sleeping with his elder brother, a student of Class 12, on the ground floor of their house. The brother found him dead and immediately alerted other family members. Upon hearing a commotion, neighbours rushed in, said the police.

The police sent the body for post-mortem examination. During the preliminary probe, the family disclosed that the victim had been sad after he was diagnosed with diabetes nearly two months ago when he was taken to a hospital after he fell ill. The police reached out to the victim’s friends and recorded their statements. No suicide note was found, the police added.
The boy is survived by his parents and the elder brother. His father works as a class 4 employee in a government department, said the police.
