Minus Points:
The movie has a lot of positives but it also has some flaws. Mainly the length of the movie is very long, a biopic should not be shown in this length but it is important to show how engaging it is in the time it is, which is missing here and there in this movie.
Mainly in the first half, the story moves slowly at some places. Also in some other places the scenes move slowly. After some good high moments, some boring scenes break the flow. Also, some scenes seem to be stretched unnecessarily.
Technical category:
As mentioned above, the production values in this movie are excellent in all aspects. The music given by Rahman in the technical team is the backbone of the film. The movie went to another level with its music. Also the cinematography visuals by Tusshar Kanti Roy and Fyodor Lass are next level. The way football matches are filmed, the last 30 minutes are mainly work but predictable. Editing of dialogues is good except for some scenes.
When it comes to director Amit Rabindranath Sharma, there is no doubt that he has given an excellent work to this film. From eliciting stunning performances from the actors, his perfect way of thinking is seen in all aspects. The way the story is driven, the way the emotions are revealed, everything has been handled well by him.

Overall, this “Maidan” is definitely one of the best sports dramas from Indian cinema. A rare true life story like this has been brought to life by an actor like Ajay Devgan.
