Currently, Bollywood movies are flying with a series of hits. And in this sequence, hero Ajay Devgn also received a series of hits and now he has come up with another film “Maidan”. After receiving a huge hit with the movie “Saitan” last month, now he has brought his awaited movie “Maidan” as a gift this Eid. Let’s see how this movie is in the review.

Story:

Coming to the story… In the football match held in Helsinki Olympics in 1952, the Indian team lost with a huge margin to the Yugoslavian team. With this, the media will target the Indian team from above and spread stories. With this, the team coach Syed Abdul Rahim (Ajay Devgan) tries to explain to the Indian Football Federation what is the real reason for the defeat. After that he starts his attempt once again with new players. And what did he achieve after becoming the coach of the Indian team from Hyderabad? What are the challenges he faced in this process? This film has to be seen on the silver screen to know how the team he has prepared has performed in the next Olympics.

Plus Points:

Certainly it is essential to know the unknown truths of our country’s taluka past to the present generation. Among the many biopic films that have come out, some films have established a stable position. There is no doubt that this film will definitely stand out among such. Maidan also makes a special mark in the sports genre films.

Many sports backdrop biopic films like Dangal, MS Dhoni as well as Chak De India have a range of thrills and emotions on the field. Maidan moves every patriot, Adhyantham continues with high moments with interesting narration. Along with these, the makers have also shown the sensitive aspects of our internal politics, why our country’s sports are not excelling in all aspects at the international level, as very hard hitting.

As for Ajay Devgan, the main character of this movie, everyone knows what kind of potential actor Ajay Devgan is. This actor, who can fit into any role, has given life as Coach Syed Abdul Rahim in Maidan. Most of the current generation may not have seen the real life Rahim and his life story. But Ajay lives by himself. His emotional performance as the main is definitely moving. It is no surprise that he won the National Award again with this film. As an actor at that level, he will impress in this movie.

Also, among the many highlights in this movie, another important aspect is the scenes on football matches. There are many episodes that give goose bumps in these scenes. With a solid background score, these scenes will provide a range treat on the big screens. Also, the VFX work in this match scenes is also very impressive. In terms of these, the production design is very good. Chaitanya Sharma, Davinder Gill, Tejas Ravi Shankar, Amartya Ray, Sushant Vayadande and others gave solid performances. Also Gajraj actress Priyamani who appeared in a negative shade did complete justice to their roles.

Minus Points:

The movie has a lot of positives but it also has some flaws. Mainly the length of the movie is very long, a biopic should not be shown in this length but it is important to show how engaging it is in the time it is, which is missing here and there in this movie.

Mainly in the first half, the story moves slowly at some places. Also in some other places the scenes move slowly. After some good high moments, some boring scenes break the flow. Also, some scenes seem to be stretched unnecessarily.

Technical category:

As mentioned above, the production values in this movie are excellent in all aspects. The music given by Rahman in the technical team is the backbone of the film. The movie went to another level with its music. Also the cinematography visuals by Tusshar Kanti Roy and Fyodor Lass are next level. The way football matches are filmed, the last 30 minutes are mainly work but predictable. Editing of dialogues is good except for some scenes.

When it comes to director Amit Rabindranath Sharma, there is no doubt that he has given an excellent work to this film. From eliciting stunning performances from the actors, his perfect way of thinking is seen in all aspects. The way the story is driven, the way the emotions are revealed, everything has been handled well by him.

Verdict:

Overall, this “Maidan” is definitely one of the best sports dramas from Indian cinema. A rare true life story like this has been brought to life by an actor like Ajay Devgan. The work of the director and the efforts of the technical experts have also made this history-making “Maidan” a must-see film. With these, one can definitely enjoy watching this film on the silver screen. Learn about the past.
