The 3rd day of Ugadi Mahotsavam at Srisailam Temple witnessed the captivating Prabhotsavam ceremony, leaving devotees enthralled.
The day commenced with special pujas for Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and his consort, Goddess Bhramaramba Ammavaru. Following these, a series of rituals were performed, including Chandeeswara Puja, Mandaparadhana, Japanushthanam, and Rudra Homam in the Swamy’s yagashala (sacrificial fire area). Ammavari Yagashala also witnessed Chandeehomam in the morning.
Special rituals were meticulously conducted to honor Goddess Bhramaramba throughout the day, culminating in special pujas and japanushthanam in the evening.
The grand finale of the day was the Prabhotsavam procession. Similar to the Rathotsavam (chariot festival), Prabhotsavam features the deities adorned with a resplendent “Prabha” – a decorative structure made with 11 types of flowers.
The festivities continued with Nandi Vahanaseva, where both Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Bhramaramba Ammavaru were ceremonially carried on a sacred bull “Nandi.” This was followed by the Gramotsavam, a captivating procession featuring the Utsavamurthy (festival idol) of Ammavaru embellished as Mahasaraswati, the goddess of knowledge and wisdom.
