Tesla In India, AP Stands A Chance If Jagan Is Voted Out

Elon Musk is visiting India very soon to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Musk himself revealed that on X without a date.

Last month, India cut import taxes on electric vehicles (EV) for global carmakers which commit to investing $500m (£399m) and starting local production within three years.

Tesla is going to invest in India after the move. In 2021, Elon Musk cited India’s high import duties as the reason for the firm not launching its cars in the world’s fastest-growing major economy.

Business Circles says the meeting is likely to happen towards the end of this month.

Obviously, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana will be trying their level best to woo Musk to start the plant in their state.

Andhra Pradesh as in the case of every big investment in the last five years will be very lethargic in making a move.

This marquee investment will put the state on the World Map if Musk decides to invest and will pave the way for many such big investments.

Andhra Pradesh’s best chance would be voting out Jagan Mohan Reddy when the state goes to polls in May.

The new government will come only in June and will have very little time to prepare.

But then, Chandrababu Naidu’s track record of wooing big companies like Microsoft, Kia Motors, etc will definitely come in handy.

Sadly, Jagan Mohan Reddy has an anti-business image thanks to things like the cancelation of PPAs, troubling investors with Reverse Tendering, and his MPs threatening Kia Motors officials in public.

Our readers may be reminded that Kia Motors is the biggest FDA for India even till date and it happened under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu.

If Tesla comes to Andhra Pradesh, it will be the biggest achievement to date after the bifurcation.

Also, a manufacturing industry will create so many jobs in the area.
