Toyota India recently launched the Urban Cruiser Taisor SUV in the country. Now, a few sections of the media have claimed that the Japanese brand has planned three more SUVs for the Indian market. The brand already has multiple SUV models in its product portfolio in India in the form of Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Fortuner and Land Cruiser 300. The three new SUVs will be introduced across different segments and one of them will be an EV, the brand’s first all-electric SUV. Let’s talk about these three SUVs in detail.
- Toyota Hyryder-based 7-Seater SUV:
Toyota India will present an all-new three-row SUV based on the Hyryder in the Indian market by 2025. It will be rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and hence, the manufacturing and supplying duties will be shouldered by Maruti Suzuki. It will rival Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Alcazar. Sources have revealed that it will have the same wheelbase as the Hyryder. However, the overall length will be increased in order to accommodate the third row of seats.
- Toyota Corolla Cross-based SUV:
Toyota is readying a Corolla Cross-based SUV for India. Set to be launched in 2025, it will enter production at the brand’s third factory which will come up soon. The new SUV will be underpinning the TNGA-C platform, which we have already seen with the Innova HyCross. Toyota Corolla Cross-based SUV will be positioned between the Hyryder 7-seater and Fortuner.
- Toyota’s Maruti eVX-based Electric SUV:
Maruti Suzuki will introduce its first-ever fully-electric car in India in the form of the eVX SUV. It is expected to launch at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show in February while the re-badged version with Toyota branding will be launched after a gap of at least 6 months. Measuring 4.3 metres in length, the eVX is claimed to have a driving range in excess of 500+ km on a single charge. We can expect the Toyota’s version to return identical driving range.
