IPL is a battleground that demands the very best of young and versatile cricketers. Here is one such case involving a disaster buy in the season and also a surprisingly good buy. The surprise buy has been from Punjab, while the disaster buy has expectedly been from RCB.
Incidentally, RCB bough Cameron Green from Mumbai Indians for a price of Rs 17.5 crore, and this has been a disaster of epic proportions. Firstly, Green was only given three games and he put up middling shows in the same. Later, the team combinations changed drastically and Cameron Green was sent out of the playing XI.
After spending Rs 17.5 crore on an all-roundernot even being able to have him in the playing XI is the most RCB thing that RCB did this year.
Coming to the best buy, it should be Ashutosh Sharma. Punjab bought him for a mere 20 lakhs and he has been a force to reckon with in the ongoing season. He has three consecutive scores of 30+ runs and all of them with a 200+ strike rate.
Ashutosh is one of the brightest young players of the ongoing season and he put on a stellar batting display in the other night’s game against Mumbai as well.
While RCB put on a disaster class by overspending on Green, Punjab is a happy bunch for acquiring a bright young talent in Ashutosh who has been working wonderfully well.
