Indian-American comedian Arj Barker got tangled into controversy while doing a show in Australia when he forced a mother and her 7-month-old to leave his show. She was breastfeeding her infant and the comic asked her to leave which sparked this controversy. The comedian defended himself by claiming that the baby was making noises which disrupted the show. The audience who paid to watch the entire show were being disturbed and this audio issue needed to be solved, he added. The incident took place in Melbourne, Australia and it has started a debate for the mothers and their rights in public areas.
Clearly, his action was insensitive and to protest against it and to support the mother some audience decided to leave the show along with her but on the other hand there were people poking fun at her. This embarrassing incident is shameful. The comedian claims that he asked the mother to politely leave as the noise of the baby was interrupting his thoughts. He also said that he was unaware that she was breastfeeding her baby due to the sharp bright lights projected onto the stage. The mother shared that she was in shock and utter disbelief that this was happening. But she didn’t want to ruin the experience for others so without making a fuss she left. Knowing or unknowingly the comedian has done something shameful and extremely insensitive and him being an entertainer and more of a live performer who interacts with 100s of people on a daily basis should have the basic decency to handle such situations in a more civilized way where the receiving end does not get humiliated.
