Now people of all ages can get health insurance. Now people of all ages will be able to get health insurance: IRDAI has removed the age limit, cancer and AIDS patients will also be able to take the policy.

Now people of all ages will be able to get health insurance, because the Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has changed the rules of health insurance policy and removed the maximum age limit. Earlier the maximum age limit for health insurance was 65 years.

The new rules of IRDAI have been implemented from 1 April 2024. According to the new rule, now any person at any age is eligible to buy health insurance. Not only this, even those with serious illness will now be able to take the policy. This means that people suffering from serious diseases like cancer and AIDS will also be able to take health insurance.

According to the new rules, insurance companies will not be able to reject any insurance claim of the customer on the basis of non-disclosure and misrepresentation about the existing condition after 60 continuous months of coverage.

Apart from this, companies will also have to bring insurance policies according to the people already suffering from any disease. Also, they will not be able to refuse health insurance to people suffering from serious diseases like cancer, heart, kidney and AIDS.

Waiting period for diseases reduced
The new update in health insurance rules focuses on reducing the waiting period for policyholders and improving claim settlement terms.

The waiting period for diseases has been reduced from 8 years to 5 years, while the waiting period for pre-existing conditions has also been reduced. The moratorium period was 8 years till 31 March 2024, which now they will become entitled for within 6 years.
