Game Changer (Hindi) Bigger Than Devara?

The Hindi rights of Ram Charan’s Game Changer have been grabbed by Anil Thadani at a superb rate of 75 crores. The film needs to do a minimum business of 150-160 crores net in Hindi.

Hindi trade analysts believe that Game Changer will be among the big openers among pan-India releases this year best after Pushpa 2 and Kalki 2898 AD.

They are banking on the brand name of Shankar who has some credibility in the North.

Shankar’s Indin released in 1996 was a huge hit in Hindi dubbed version. It was one of the few dubbed hits in Hindi with footfalls close to 1.5 crores which amounts to 300 crores net collection in today’s times.

His next film Nayak, a remake of Oke Okkadu, was a flop but earned a cult status after its satellite premiere. Aparichit is also a hugely popular film for the Hindi audience. Robot (2010) was a HIT film and its sequel 2.0 (2018) was a superhit with collections touching 190 crores net in Hindi.

Shankar might have turned a bit outdated for the South audience, but in Hindi, he is still considered a big South director.

Ram Charan’s popularity after RRR, the brand of Shankar, and a top heroine like Kiara Advani make Game Changer a promising film for the Hindi audience.

As of now, Game Changer is expected to do better than NTR and Koratala Siva’s Devara as it doesn’t have a big director like Shankar.

But it all depends on how promotional material like promos, trailers, and songs come out. Devara is a more rooted film than Game Changer and has lots of Desi action that can attract the Hindi audience more than the stylized action in Game Changer.
