Skoda Auto has made six airbags a standard safety feature for its Slavia mid-size sedan and Kushaq mid-size SUV. As a result, the prices for both models have increased by Rs 10,000. The Skoda Slavia is now priced between Rs 11.63 lakh and Rs 18.83 lakh, while the Skoda Kushaq ranges from Rs 11.99 lakh to Rs 19.79 lakh, all on an ex-showroom basis.

Previously, the six-airbag configuration was exclusive to the top-end Style trim, with dual airbags as standard across the Slavia and Kushaq lineups. Along with this safety enhancement, both models come with electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a multi-collision braking system, traction control, and brake assist.

The Skoda Slavia and Kushaq are being offered with two engine options: a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine generating 115hp and 150Nm of torque, and a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 150bhp and 250Nm of torque. The 1.0-liter engine is available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. The 1.5-liter engine offers a choice between a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG (direct-shift gearbox) transmission.

Future updates for the Skoda Slavia and Kushaq could include Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a 360-degree camera, which would add to their competitive edge in their respective segments. A mid-life update for both models is anticipated around 2025, with possible special editions in between. Skoda also plans to launch a new sub-4-meter SUV for the Indian market.

The upcoming Skoda subcompact SUV has been spotted in heavy camouflage during testing. The spy images show key design elements such as a signature grille, dual-pod LED headlamps with a split setup and turn indicators, a clamshell bonnet, thick C-pillars, pronounced body cladding, and C-shaped LED taillamps. This new subcompact SUV could be equipped with a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, with transmission options including a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox.
