Winning the lottery is almost everyone’s dream, and very few are destined to experience this rare, life-changing moment.
Cheng Saephan, a 46-year-old immigrant from Portland who immigrated to the U.S. from Laos, won the Powerball jackpot of $1.3 billion.
He chose the option to cash out the entire amount, which will leave him with $422 million after taxes.
The sad part is that he is a cancer patient who has been dealing with it for 8 years and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.
He mentioned that he would share half of the amount with his friend who gave him $100 to buy a bunch of lottery tickets.
Reflecting on his situation, he expressed concern about finding a good doctor, saying, “How am I going to have time to spend all of this money? How long will I live?”
