‘Mistreated MS Dhoni, now KL Rahul’: Fans slam LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka’s act, call Shah Rukh Khan ‘superior’ in handling losses | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Following a humiliating loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul and team owner Sanjiv Goenka were seen having a visibly intense discussion.
Goenka appeared clearly dissatisfied with the outcome and was caught by cameras deep in conversation with KL Rahul near the boundary line.
While the specifics of their conversation were not audible, the spirited exchange between the owner and captain was captured on broadcast and circulated widely on social media following LSG’s crushing 10-wicket defeat.

As a result of the loss, LSG dropped to sixth place on the points table and now needs to win their final two matches and rely on favorable outcomes from other games to secure a playoff spot.

Fans were uneasy about Goenka’s public confrontation with Rahul, suggesting such discussions should be held in private rather than in front of spectators.

Critics also took issue with Goenka’s approach towards the composed and calm Rahul, pointing out that he could learn from KKR’s co-owner and Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, who is known for encouraging players with hugs and applause regardless of a win or loss.
Sunrisers Hyderabad secured the 10-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants thanks to a dominant performance from opening pair Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma.
After LSG chose to bat first and posted a below-par total of 165, with Rahul’s slow innings of 29 from 33 balls, Ayush Badoni (55 off 30) and Nicholas Pooran’s (48 off 26) 99-run partnership provided LSG with a more competitive score.
However, Head (89 in 30 balls) and Abhishek (75 in 28 balls) overwhelmed the LSG bowlers, successfully chasing the target of 166 runs in just 9.4 overs.
