A lot is being said about the captaincy style of Hardik Pandya in the ongoing season of the IPL as Mumbai Indians have become the first side to be eliminated from the tournament this year.
In this context, legendary AB de Villiers has made a shocking comment on Hardik’s captaincy.
AB De Villiers said, “Hardik Pandya’s captaincy style is quite bravado. It’s ego driven in a way, chest out, but when you play with a lot of experienced players who’ve been around for ages, they don’t buy into that. It worked for a young GT team”.
This is very much a factual presentation of what is being seen on the field and the way in which Hardik’s false bravado has affected Mumbai as a side.
Amidst the reports that the likes of Rohit, Bumrah, and Surya Kumar Yadav could be leaving the side, such expert comments on Hardik will further deplete Mumbai’s prospects.
Hardik’s flop show for Mumbai can be taken on a lighter vein because it’s only for the franchise. But come June, he will be playing for India in the T20 World Cup and this is where he must deliver without fail. He is also the new vice captain of the side so there’s that added pressure.
