Tata Nexon subcompact SUV model lineup has received three new entry-level variants with both petrol and diesel engine options. The new Smart (O) petrol variant has been priced at Rs 8 lakh, while the new Smart+ and Smart+ S diesel variants cost Rs 10 lakh and Rs 10.60 lakh, respectively. Compared to the previous Smart base variant, the new variants are nearly Rs 15,000 (petrol) to Rs 30,000 – Rs 40,000 (diesel) more affordable.

With the introduction of the new base variants, the Tata Nexon’s starting price comes down, which will surely help it to withstand its new rival – Mahindra XUV 3XO. The latter one is being offered in nine trims (MX1, MX2, MX2 Pro, MX3, MX3 Pro, AX5, AX5L, AX7 and AX7 L), priced from Rs 7.49 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom. Talking about features, the new Nexon Smart (O) petrol variant offers two-spoke steering wheel with illuminated logo, multi drive modes (Eco, City and Sport), front power windows, reverse guiding sensors, electronic stability program, six airbags and LED headlamps and taillamps with DRLs. The Smart+ diesel model offers a 17.78cm touchscreen infotainment system by Harman, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, 4 speakers, reverse camera, steering mounted controls, all power windows, electronically adjustable ORVM and shark fin antenna. The Smart+ diesel variant gets three additional features, namely, rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps and voice assisted electric sunroof.

Along with introducing three new variants, Tata has removed three variants from the Nexon model lineup including Smart petrol manual, Fearless S petrol manual and Fearless S petrol DCA. With an aim to further boost its sales, the indigenous automaker will soon introduce the Tata Nexon CNG version with its twin-cylinder technology. It will be India’s first car to come with the petrol turbocharged engine paired with the factory-fitted CNG kit.
