All-New MG Astor SUV, Cloud EV MPV Design Patents Leaked

The new-generation MG Astor SUV (known as the MG ZS overseas) and new Cloud EV compact MPV design patents have been leaked on the web, revealing the brand’s futuristic design language. While former is likely to debut in late 2025 and its India launch might happen in 2026, the latter is scheduled to go on sale in 2024. Here’re key details of both the upcoming UVs that we know so far.

MG Cloud EV

MG Cloud EV patent

After the ZS EV and Comet, the MG Cloud EV will be the third electric offering from the British automaker in India. The patent image shows the blacked-off front grille, projector headlamps, front dender-mounted charging port on the left side and wide air dam. The compact MPV will also feature dual-tone alloy wheels, black roof, a panoramic sunroof, front door mounted ORVMs and an integrated rear spoiler. Interior of the MG Cloud EV is a mystery to us. Though, it’s expected to come with a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, three-spoke steering wheel, rear AC vents and horizontally placed AC vents.

In global markets, the Cloud EV is available with two battery pack options – 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh – along with an electric motor. With small battery pack, it offers a range of 360km and its larger batter version promises 460km.

The new-generation MG Astor will come with significantly updated front fascia featuring a newly-designed grille, tweaked bumper and revised headlamps. The nose appears flatter than before, and the bonnet looks slightly longer. The side profile will be revised with the newly-designed alloy wheels, and new shoulder line. The wing mirrors will have lane watch cameras, and glass area seems slightly bigger than before. At the back, it will sport redesigned bumper, wraparound taillamps and redesigned tailgate. If reports are to be believed, the new MG Astor could be offered with three powertrain options – petrol, diesel and hybrid.
