Maruti Swift CNG Coming Soon

Maruti Suzuki recently launched the fourth-generation Swift hatchback, featuring a more efficient and all-new Z-Series petrol engine, improved styling, and additional features. The hatchback model lineup is available within the price range of Rs 6.49 lakh – Rs 9.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Suzuki’s new 1.2L, three-cylinder petrol motor delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 24.80 km/l (MT) and 25.75 km/l (AMT). For reference, the claimed mileage figures of the previous generation Swift were 22.38 km/l with a manual gearbox and 22.56 km/l with AMT transmission.

Compared to the old K-Series four-cylinder engine, the new three-cylinder motor is 8 bhp less powerful and 1 Nm less torquey. The new Swift’s model lineup will soon be expanded with CNG variants, ensuring more fuel efficiency, lower operational costs, and reduced emissions. Similar to Maruti Suzuki’s other CNG cars, the new Maruti Swift CNG will come with a factory-fitted CNG kit placed in the boot space. With this setup, the power and torque figures might be slightly lower than the regular petrol variants.

In terms of pricing, the new Maruti Swift CNG will compete against the CNG variants of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Tiago, Hyundai Exter, and Tata Punch. The official launch date and details of the CNG model will be revealed in the near future.

Maruti Swift Strong Hybrid On Cards

Suzuki Japan is working on a new strong hybrid system that will be used for its smaller cars, including the Swift. However, the hatchback will receive the brand’s new HEV tech with its next generational change. The Maruti Fronx facelift will be the first model to come with this tech, slated to go on sale in 2025. It will feature a series hybrid powertrain that is significantly more cost-effective than Toyota’s series-parallel tech. Maruti Suzuki’s new HEV hybrid tech will include the new Z-Series engine, a battery pack with a capacity of 1.5 kWh – 2 kWh, and an electric motor.
