We saw the Tata Curvv coupe SUV in its close-to-production form earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Show. The final version was initially scheduled to hit showrooms by mid-2024. However, a fresh media report states that its launch timeline has been pushed to this year’s festive season. The delay is attributed to the ongoing general election, which is causing low sales. The indigenous automaker will primarily focus on stabilizing production and deliveries of its existing model lineup before foraying into the coupe SUV segment with the Curvv.
The report further states that the Tata Curvv will enter production in September, and its market launch could happen in late 2024 or early 2025. It will first be introduced with an electric powertrain, followed by its ICE-powered (petrol/diesel) version. Once launched, the new coupe SUV from Tata will compete with the upcoming Citroen Basalt and mid-size SUVs, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.
After the Punch.ev, the Tata Curvv EV will be the brand’s second electric offering to underpin its new Gen 2 Acti.ev architecture. Specifications of the model are still under wraps, though it’s expected to deliver a range of around 500 km on a single charge. The Curvv’s petrol version will debut Tata’s all-new 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine making 125 bhp. The diesel model, on the other hand, will use the Nexon’s 1.5L, four-cylinder motor, which delivers a claimed power of 115 PS and 260 Nm of torque.
Reports suggest that the Curvv coupe SUV will come with a host of advanced technologies, including an ADAS suite and a 360-degree camera. Features such as a large, floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a HUD unit, dual-zone climate control, a two-spoke steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and an electric parking brake will also be on offer.
