Amidst the craze, euphoria, tension and all the attention surrounding the Andhra Pradesh general elections, the talk surrounding Telangana’s Lok Sabha election is pretty low.
However, one of the discussed aspects of this MP election in Telangana is the big fight that is happening in the Old City of Hyderabad.
AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi has held the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat since 2004, consistently winning by significant margins. If he wins for the fifth time, it will be a new record of sorts.
Apart from that, he wins this seat by 1+ lakh margin votes sometimes. Owaisi has a lot of support from Muslim voters, the main base of this parliamentary constituency, but BJP fielded millionaire BJP Madhavi Latha from here for a reason.
First of all the party is hoping that their cancellation of Triple Talaq and other bills passed in favour of Muslim women will help them get huge votes.
Though the election in the Old City is complicated because people care about things like religion more, the BJP is hopeful that they could usurp Owaisi from the throne.
In case if BJP comes close to Owaisi, and even if Madhavi Latha loses just by 5-10K votes, it will be a sort of record. Just in case if they win, it will be history for sure. But if Owaisi keeps his seat, it would show that regional parties like his are still strong no matter how many national parties come over.
We will know the result on June 4th anyway!
