According to the Telugu calendar, Vaisakh Purnima Tithi will begin on Wednesday 22nd May 2024 at 6:47 PM. The next day i.e. 23rd ends at 7:22 PM. According to the morning tithi, Buddha Purnima will be celebrated on Thursday 23rd May 2024. On this auspicious day, wake up before sunrise and take bath.
Importance of Buddha Purnima..
Buddha Purnima is the birthday of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. He was born in Lumbini, Nepal. The full moon day is very special for Buddhists. Many believe that three important milestones took place on this day in the life of the Buddha. He was born on this day in Lumbini. After six years of asceticism, Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree on a full moon day. Finally on this day he breathed his last at Kusinara at the age of 80, according to history.
Pooja method
All the devotees clean their houses on Buddha’s full moon day. On this auspicious day, one takes a bath and sprinkles Ganga water around the house, near the front door. On this day one should light a lamp and decorate the house with flowers. A swastika symbol of turmeric or saffron should be offered near the main door of your home. Deeparadhana should be done by pouring milk to the Bodhi tree. Today you should donate clothes and food to the poor according to your ability.

* According to the scriptures, if you donate a pot full of water on Buddha Purnima, you will get as much merit as donating a cow.
* Satyanarayana story should be recited at home on this day.
* Lotus flower should be offered to Goddess Lakshmi at night on the same day. Pundits say that this will bring wealth
* In all the countries where Buddhism has spread, Bodhi Vriksha Puja is held on Vaisakh Purniman. On that day, Buddhists tie flags to the Bodhi tree, light lamps and pour perfumed water.
* Forgive those who have done wrong. Try to understand them. The habit of doubting is very dangerous. Suspicion is like empathy. It drives a wedge between anyone. Especially it increases the bond of friends, relationship between husband and wife and distance between lovers. That’s why you should avoid doubting.
