IPL 2024: The Royal Challengers Bangalore team has created history and made it to the playoffs this time. RCB became the first team to advance in the IPL after losing six matches in a row. Virat Kohli’s dream of winning the trophy for the first time may be fulfilled but the rules of IPL may stand in the way.
One of the most talked about teams in the IPL right now is Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore. The way a team has come back after losing 6 consecutive matches is unprecedented in the history of the tournament. By defeating Chennai Super Kings in the final league match, the team booked their ticket to the playoffs. RCB managed to advance by beating Chennai on the basis of superior net run rate.
Will RCB be out of IPL without playing?
So far this season, many league matches have been canceled due to rain. The Gujarat Titans team suffered the most from this. Rain killed his playoff hopes. A match is to be played between Rajasthan and Bangalore at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. If this match is rained then RCB team can be eliminated without playing the eliminator.
What is the rule of IPL?
The IPL Governing Council has not kept a reserve day for qualifiers and eliminator matches. Meanwhile, if rain spoils the match, it will be RCB’s loss. If the match rains, the match official will try to make the match 5-5 overs. If this is not possible then the decision can be made by super over. If even 1 ball is not bowled in the match then the team which is in the best position in the points table will advance.
