Newcastle United have been credited with an interest in Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford and Ramon Sosa; the highly-rated winger impressing in Argentina.
Starting with Trafford, The Sun’s Alan Nixon reports that we are keen to sign a young understudy to Nick Pope, 32, and are considering a move for Trafford following Burnley’s relegation to the Championship.
The 21-year-old joined the Clarets last summer in a £19m move from Man City, but had a tough first season in the Premier League. However, his impressive displays for England’s U21s have seen him be include in Gareth Southgate’s provisional squad for Euro 2024.
Then to Sosa, ESPN’s Roberto Rojas has revealed that Newcastle United are one of three Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on Paraguayan winger Ramon Sosa, with Chelsea and Everton also keen.
The 24-year-old has seven goals and six assists in 18 appearances for Talleres this season and is considered one of the best wingers in the Argentinian top flight.
As Rojas reports below, it’s thought Newcastle scouts have traveled to watch the player in person, with Tallares’ owner making it known that their star man is free to leave if a $20m (£16m) bid arrives this summer.
