Indian left-arm spinner Swapnil Singh was sitting in front of the TV when the mini-auction of players took place ahead of the 2024 IPL season. His name was called twice in total. The first time his name came up in a regular auction. But, no one bid on him. 18 years of sweat in cricket. So it was natural for Swapnil to feel that everything is over now. But, interestingly, the second time his name was called, the Bangalore team bid for him. Swapnil Singh still remembers that incident. ‘I was walking to Dharamshala for a match. We reached there at half past seven in the evening. The last few rounds of the auction were left. But, the previous experience was disappointing. Now I had reached the opinion of giving up the game. Thoughts of playing the ongoing domestic season and accepting retirement were running through my mind. But, everything changed at the last moment. Swapnil’s strikerate is so many runs
Swapnil Singh started cricket in 2006 and that’s when he shared the dressing room with Virat Kohli. This year, 33-year-old Swapnil was bought by RCB for Rs 20 lakh. And for them he has done a great job of recovering money. In this season, he has taken 6 wickets in 8 matches and has given 8.80 runs per over. Originally got a chance to play IPL. That’s when my family was also emotional. It was the last chance to do what I wanted to do. So she didn’t want to lose. I met Flower. During the camp, I convinced him why I want to play IPL. The performance in Ranji was told to him. The special thing is that they showed faith and finally I was able to play this season,’ said Swapnil.
