SRH vs RR’s Qualifier 2 is scheduled for Chennai (BCCI)
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season has reached its penultimate stage, with only the Qualifier 2 and Final matches remaining. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have already clinched their spot in the final after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets.
In Qualifier 2 SRH will lock horns against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 24th, 2024, at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This high-stakes encounter will determine the second finalist.
Ahead of the highly-anticipated match, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall across southern states, including Tamil Nadu, in the coming days.
While this raises concerns about potential disruption in the clash between SRH and RR, the IMD also suggests Chennai might experience only light, sporadic showers.
What Happens If Rain Disrupts IPL Qualifier 2 Between SRH Vs RR ?
Qualifier 2 is scheduled for Friday, May 24th, 2024 between SRH and RR and in the event of rain, a designated reserve day will allow for the completion of the match.
However, if both the scheduled day and the reserve day are impacted by inclement weather, Pat Cummins & Co. will automatically advance to the final. This is based on their superior position in the final points table compared to RR.
Similarly, considering the final match that is scheduled for Sunday, May 26th, 2024, a similar reserve day is allocated to accommodate potential rain delays.
However, if both scheduled days are unplayable due to weather, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be declared the IPL champions.
This decision will be made by their position atop the final points table, signifying their superior performance throughout the league stage.
