Kia India is planning to expand its product portfolio in the near future with a range of new SUVs, MPVs, and EVs. The plan outlines five models, including the Kia Syaro/Clavis micro SUV, an updated Carens, the new-generation Carnival, and the EV9 electric SUV. While there is no official word on the Let’s EV3‘s arrival in India, it’s likely to launch here in early 2025 along with other Asian markets.
First, talking about the new Kia micro SUV, the model’s production version could be named Scythe or Clavisand it will be positioned against the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. Its testing has already commenced, and we have seen prototypes with camouflage revealing some of its design details.
The Syaro will have a boxy stance with Kia’s signature grille, vertically positioned LED headlamps and taillamps, roof rails, thick body cladding, and large glass windows with distinct kinks. It could be packed with some advanced features such as a Bose audio system, leatherette upholstery, a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. However, these features might be reserved for the top trims. Initially, it will be offered with a petrol engine only.
The 2024 Kia Carens facelift is expected to hit the roads towards the end of this year. The compact MPV is likely to receive minimal updates inside and out while retaining the existing engine setup. The new-generation Kia Carnival MPVwhich had its world debut in late 2023, will go on sale in India in early 2025. Noticeable cosmetic changes and feature upgrades are on the cards. However, the model will continue to use the existing 2.2L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine with an automatic gearbox.
The Kia EV9 electric SUV will come as part of the brand’s 2.0 transformation strategy in this fiscal year. However, its official launch timeline is yet to be revealed. Globally, the EV9 is available with three powertrains – a 76.1kWh battery with RWD, a 99.8kWh battery with RWD Long-Range, and a 99.8kWh battery with AWD and two electric motors.
