Con: West Bengal actress Anasuya Sengupta was awarded the best actress award for ‘The Shameless’ at the Khan Film Festival.
The 77th Cannes Film Festival kicked off last May 15 in Cannes, France. Films and documentaries from different languages of the world were screened. The awards for best films and artists were announced today.
Anasuya Sengupta, an actress from West Bengal, was awarded the best actress award for ‘The Shameless’. With this, Anasuya has become the first Indian artiste to win the Best Actress Award at the Khan Film Festival. In Bulgarian director Konstantin Bojanov’s ‘The Shameless’, Anasuya played the role of Renuka, an escapee from a Delhi brothel.
Apart from ‘The Shameless’, the Kannada short film ‘Sunflowers Were the First Ones to Know’ and the animated short film ‘Bunnyhood’ won awards on behalf of India.
