The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has added a special member to its support staff in view of preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. The ECB has added psychologist David Young, who is associated with the men’s team of football club Manchester City. The most important role behind this decision has been played by Matthew Mott, the head coach of the limited overs format of the England team, who has taken this step keeping in mind how the players can play themselves with positive thinking in matches with strength in pressure situations.
Manchester City team had a lot of success
When psychologist David Young joined football club Manchester City, the team achieved a lot of success, in which they recently won their fourth consecutive title in the Premier League. The ECB had earlier taken permission from Manchester City to add David Young to their support staff so that his services could be taken in the T20 World Cup. Earlier also, Young was a part of the support staff of the England team from 2016 to 2020 and during this time the team also won the ODI World Cup title in the year 2019. During that time, the current England team’s ODI and T20 captain Jos Buttler praised David Young, due to which he was able to perform better in the final match against New Zealand.
England will play their first match on 4 June
Under the captaincy of Jos Buttler, the England team is currently playing a 4-match T20 series against Pakistan at home. After this, they will play their first match in the T20 World Cup against Scotland on June 4. On June 8, they will face the Australian team, while on June 13 and 15, England will play matches against Oman and Namibia. The England team is part of Group B in the T20 World Cup.
